As a psychologist, trainer, coach, and consultant, I approach problems from multiple perspectives. When addressing (behavioral) change, I routinely examine a person’s personality, thought patterns, behavioral tendencies, their origins, and the surrounding context. After all, a system of personal tendencies is always the result of these combined factors. By integrating this approach with psycho-education and tailored exercises, change within that system becomes both effective and lasting.
I began my career as a dancer with the Dutch National Ballet, where I learned all aspects of the theater world. I became fascinated by the effect this magical environment had on performers and audiences alike. This ultimately led me to leave dance behind and graduate in two major areas of psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in a short period of time.
Since 1989, I have maintained a private psychology practice in Bloemendaal and worked for many years in mental healthcare (GGZ), treating both individuals and groups. My work included support for victims and perpetrators of sexual abuse, family and relationship issues, anxiety, personality disorders, identity problems, and behavioral issues in (delinquent) youth. My psychological expertise has often been called upon by the justice system and media (television and radio).
In the early 2000s, I joined Schouten & Nelissen as a trainer, later worked with the in-house training department at Corus IJmuiden (now TATA Steel), and currently work with Klotz Schouten Prevoo alongside my psychology practice.
As a trainer, I have gained experience in heavy industry, multinationals (petrochemical, steel, food, electronics), banking, theater, government ministries and municipalities, small businesses, the pharmaceutical sector, education, and healthcare. As a psychologist, coach, and consultant, I am frequently asked to help resolve complex and sensitive issues in business, theater, politics, and public administration.
In addition to standard methods for driving behavioral change in individuals, teams, and organizations, I can also incorporate anything that sets people in motion—drawing from disciplines such as judo, theater, psychology, and dance—into training and coaching, always in consultation with clients and participants.
